Tonto's Feb 2006 Baja Crossing

This was our first attempt at making a video while on a trip to cross the Baja Peninsula. We had been watching the wales in Lopez Mateos on the Pacific coast and decided to find a route to the Sea of Cortez. We had a general driving map of Baja and there was some dotted lines that suggested we might be able to make it. On the way we met many friends. One was a puppy right at the highway turn-off. She made it as far as a farm in the middle of nowhere where we had to ask for very general directions. On the first evening we had to camp on the top of a hill just off the road because we ran out of daylight. But it was one of the most spectacular sunsets and starry-nights. At one point the road seemed to go right through a front yard. A woman came out to greet us and told us that we were going the right direction but that she hadn't had anyone pass that way in a long time. Just as we saw the green sea down, down the road we also met a few fishermen who had broken an axle on their truck. We gave the oldest one a ride to the village of San Evaristo and we were rewarded with two very fresh and delicious fish! The song along with this video is a good laugh too...
